In a time when many institutions are challenged financially, if you’re planning to attend ASGA’s National Student Government Summit this fall, it would be wise to register early.

You can save hundreds and perhaps thousands of dollars by planning ahead and registering now. ASGA offers a “Super Planner” rate– the deadline is April 15, 2011. There are other deadlines that offer discounts throughout the summer.

Today, ASGA welcomes Baltimore International College and also Nyack College as the two newest ASGA member institutions.

52 percent of Student Government members are women

ASGA was asked by the Washington Post about the percentage of women serving in college and university student governments. So we pulled data from the “SG Database” since ASGA was founded in 2003.

Please note that our data gets deeper and more accurate and thorough each
year. We have hired full-time researchers each year… to help us augment the
data. We now have five full-time researchers who spend 13,000 hours a year
gathering data on collegiate student governments.

Making Student Governments more effective

This is the goal of my organization, the American Student Government Association. We work every day to help college student governments grow and improve. We help them become more effective as advocates for their fellow students.

This is critical mission for the future of our nation. Many of the SG leaders of today will most certainly be elected public officials in the next 20 years. ASGA is teaching them to be “constituent driven” and to make decisions through research and analysis and not on emotions.

ASGA is doing important work and it is a privilege to serve student governments everywhere.
